Nutrire took up the cause of SPA Bicho Feliz, from Garibaldi, which communicated the overpopulation of animals in the NGO due to the increase in abandonment during the pandemic. The coordinator of SPA, Luana Meneghetti, asked the community for help, as the organization is not able to afford pet food for dogs and cats anymore due to the increase in the number of rescued animals. Besides, SPA is not able to rescue more abandoned animals in the city due to the lack of physical space.

“Today we are taking care of more than 80 animals, including dogs and cats. It’s double our capacity. A lot of other animals need help, but we are unable to accommodate them all, as we do not have any more physical space to take in new ones. To give you an idea, since January we’ve donated 48 stray dogs that haven’t even been taken to our shelter, not mentioning the cats, with much higher figures, so we don’t have an exact number. That is why it is essential that all citizens of Garibaldi take up this cause along with Nutrire,” she says.

Nutrire got to know about the difficulties that SPA had been facing through a post on Instagram, so the company decided to triple the amount of pet food that it had already been donating to the organization for the last 4 years. “We are going to provide 6,000 kilos of pet food until December, with monthly deliveries, so that more animals can be helped,” Leonardo Oliveira, one of the creators of the campaign, explains.

And it doesn’t end there, as Nutrire will also donate a year of pet food to everyone who adopts a pet from SPA Bicho Feliz during this difficult period. “Those who decide to adopt a pet and commit to providing it with the affection and care it needs will not have to worry about pet food for 12 months,” he explains. Both the company and SPA Bicho Feliz will monitor and see if the pet is being well taken care of. In addition, to make the adoption official, some interviews are conducted as part of the adoption assessment process.
